Corruption: Politician Tells Truth About Ongoing ‘Bribes For Legislation’ Scheme In Washington DC, The Media Ignored Him…

At a Republican political fundraiser event in March, a writer for the newly formed independent news source, Under Current, released a BOMBSHELL video from the event in Alabama. In the video, Congressman Mo Brooks (R-AL 5th District) explained in great detail why Congress doesn’t seem to focus on the needs of the working class, and well, the answer, as usual, was money…

On April 15th, 2022, a journalist from Under Current News, Lauren Windsor (@lawindsor) posted a full length video to Twitter. In it, Congressman Mo Brooks, details how special interest, and corporate lobbyists continue to partner with political parties in order to control the legislative process. From his testimony we learn that the two parties do this by creating “special rules” for each chambers’ committees and subcommittees. Committees consist of a smaller groups of lawmakers that usually vote when, or if, a bill is able to recieve a “floor vote”, a vote by the entire house or senate body. The overwhelming number of bills never leave the committee. With that reality of power in mind, the situation is made exceedingly worse when knowing that going through committees is the only way to make new legislation. The legislative system, as it exists now, flooded by corporate dark money, as described by Mo Brooks, essentially accomplishes 3 things:

  1. Makes sure that legislation is made exclusively by congresspeople that can afford to pay the party enough money out of pocket, or by congresspeople that are reliant and accept enough money from corporations in order to buy the seat to influence policy they want.
  2. Makes sure that all corporations are allowed to purchase votes or “lobby” congress people that are favorable to their desired outcomes.
  3. Makes sure that bribes remain legal and have set prices to ensure cash dependency among politicians, especially for committees with potential for powerful legislative impact.

“I’m sure that you are very much concerned about why our congress is so unresponsive to the regular needs of American citizens, why some of these policies that come out are so bizarre, so unfair, so skewered against regular Jane and Joe citizens.

The reason is simple, special interest groups run Washington. And I don’t mean that metaphorically. I mean literally. Now here is how it happens. In the House of Representatives — I use that as an example because that’s where I work, if you want to be chairmen of your committee, you have to purchase it. And the purchase price for a major committee, say like Ways and Means. Minimum bid is $1 million dollars.” — Congressman Mo Brooks

Later in the video, Congressman Mo Brooks describes a small coalition of Republicans that are opposed to corporate money running politics and corporate money deciding what gets passed, that is, if it “hurts” the little man. The names he mentioned surprisingly included Republican Kentucky Senator Rand Paul and Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY 4th District), someone who Trump has previously threatened to kick out of the Republican party. However, with each of them being candidates for the 2022 elections, each of them have already taken some money from corporations, albeit, to a far lesser extent than many of their Republican colleagues and even a few of their Democratic colleagues.

Editor’s Opinion

For years the issue of getting corporate money out of politics has been a bipartisan issue among voters, however the same can’t be said for the politicians in Washington DC. Since the 2010 Supreme Court Case, Citizens United, groups like RepresentUs have been busy trying to educate the public about the problem with untraceable campaign “support” to politicians happening on all levels of government, federal, state, and local. However, this effort to push education of how the American political system actually works remains a low priority for our elected officials, the two political parties, and evidently our nations top media organizations. Despite this very clear admission of complete corruption, the scandal has gone largely unreported by members of the national press. CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, Washington Post, New York Post, Daily Wire, Washington Journal, Axios, etc.

If this recording is true and is to be believed, then what Americans are dealing with isn’t just a group of corrupt politicians capable of spending trillions of dollars as they see fit with the money we pay them, but even worse, its a system corrupted and doomed to have a economy rigged in favor of those with the most disposable income. Businesses paying politicians, politicians paying businesses, a public that is unaware but totally supportive of the corrupt status quo of the system, and no matter what party they choose, and no matter what political outsiders might do, these concerned citizens will spend their whole lives working to change the system that only to realize that the rot is so much deeper than previously thought, and any significant change to the system is killed under the dishonest guise of “we don’t have the votes” AKA don’t stop the gravy train.
